LAMBERHURST SCHOOL OF THEATRE DANCE near Tunbridge Wells, Kent, was founded in 1977 by it’s former principal Margaret Mansi after she retired from the professional theatre. Starting her career with London Festival Ballet Company (now renamed English National Ballet Company). She then performed at the London Palladium where she was head dancer for several productions. She appeared in a Royal Variety Performance, in the film ‘The Music Lovers,’ and on television. She appeared in several West End Musicals ending with two years in ‘Showboat’ at London’s Adelphi Theatre. See full bio on our teachers page.

Starting with a handful of girls in 1977 the school now has 300 pupils drawn from Lamberhurst and surrounding villages.
Katherine Mansi is now principal of the school with teachers Margaret Mansi, Kirsty Cooper, Amanda Ledger, Jeanne Mayo, Holly Sturman & Chris Gidney.

CLASSES HELD DAILY AT LAMBERHURST VILLAGE HALL FOR BABIES, TODDLERS, PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN, ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCING BALLET (R.A.D.), I.S.T.D MODERN THEATRE DANCE, TAP AND JAZZ, STREET JAZZ, ADULT TAP, BALLET, MOVEMENT AND FITNESS CLASSES, HOLIDAY COURSES, WORKSHOPS AND MASTER CLASSES

SOME PUPILS HAVE GONE ON TO FULL TIME TRAINING AT RECOGNISED DANCE & DRAMA COLLEGES & HAVE APPEARED IN WEST END SHOWS, TOURING SHOWS & CRUISE SHIPS.

A PERCENTAGE OF CHILDREN ARE ENTERED FOR R.A.D AND I.S.T.D EXAMINATIONS

CHILDREN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM AT THE ASSEMBLY HALL THEATRE, LOCAL FETES AND AUDITION FOR PANTOMIMES AT LAMBERHURST, CRANBROOK, TUNBRIDGE WELLS, SOUTHBOROUGH, THE KENT YOUTH BALLET AND THE ENGLISH YOUTH BALLET

WE ARE A VERY CARING SCHOOL AND WORK IN A HAPPY ENVIRONMENT. WE AIM TO TEACH THE LOVE OF DANCE & THEATRE, WORKING TO EACH PUPIL’S INDIVIDUAL NEED.
